This online exhibit features digital projects developed by students in Professor Lowell Gallagher’s Winter 2020 English 118B (“Literature and Other Arts”). Class preparation included attendance at Los Angeles Opera’s world premiere of Mathew Aucoin’s Eurydice in February 2020 as well as visits to the Hammer Museum and the William Andrews Clark Library.
The exhibit showcases the resilience and generative appeal of the Orphic legend in contemporary music, film, museum cultures, children’s literature, video games, and video social networks. Each project is paired with an online presentation by the student designer.
A Viewing Suggestion: Please begin your tour of the exhibit by visiting the Projects Overview gallery and then selecting the corresponding projects in the Projects gallery.
Many thanks to the LA Opera Connects staff and the administrative and curatorial staff of the Hammer Museum and the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library as well as UCLA’s Department of English and the Undergraduate Research Center for their support of the project.
